The Centre for the Greek Language – a member of the European Federation of National Institutions for Language (EFNIL) – has authorized the Greek Language Institute (INEL) to operate Examination Centre #30025 in Aegina for the second consecutive year. Consequently, it will manage the Examinations for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek. The Centre for the Greek Language is supervised by the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports in Greece, and the Certificates are official.
Examinations are conducted ONLY at examination centres recognized by the Centre for the Greek Language in Greece and abroad. The Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek is the only official and internationally recognized certificate.
Reasons to obtain the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek:

Certification of proficiency in the Greek Language.

Certification of proficiency in the Greek Language for Special Purposes – Residence Permits, Work Permits, Recognition of foreign Diplomas – the required level of knowledge is determined by the respective professional bodies/entities.

Certification of proficiency in the Greek Language for candidates of Vocational Training Centres (KEK).
Dates and Deadlines:
The registration period runs from February 1st to March 20th, 2026.
The examinations for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek will be held in Aegina in May 2026.
The examinations will take place internationally on the following dates:

May 19th, for levels A1 (8-12 years old), A1 for adolescents and adults, and A2.

May 20th, for levels B2 and C1.

May 21st, for levels B1 and C2.
Location:
All candidates will be informed in due time regarding the exact time and venue where the examinations will be conducted.
The examination fees are set by the Centre for the Greek Language, are the same worldwide regardless of where you register or take the exams, and amount to:

90 €, for levels A1, A2, and B1.

100 €, for levels B2, C1, and C2.
Registration Process: You can register by completing the online application available at the Centre for the Greek Language or by submitting an application to Centre #30025 in Aegina via email at info@in-el.gr or ellinomatheia@gmail.com. Centre #30025 in Aegina will review your registration application and, upon payment of the examination fees, will provide you with your unique Candidate Code Number, which you must present at the Examinations. The unique Candidate Code Number serves as proof of your registration by the Centre for the Greek Language, as well as official proof of your payment.
