The Greek Language Institute (INEL), in collaboration with the Modern Greek and European Studies Publications (NEOHEL), successfully organized the first free online presentation of the seminar series “In the Classroom and in Practice.” The meeting focused on the A1 level material of the “Greek for You” series and marked the first step in a new, structured initiative for the training of teachers of Greek as a second/foreign language.
The online presentation was attended by 150 educators from 33 countries, as well as institutions such as the Ministry of Education, the Pedagogical Institute, public and private schools, universities, Greek communities, and educational centers from around the world.
During the seminar, the following were presented:
- the key criteria for selecting an effective textbook,
- modern approaches concerning the use of the first language in teaching L2/FL,
- practical guidelines and examples for the optimal utilization of the “Greek for You” material in educational practice.
The participants’ response was enthusiastic, and the evaluations and comments collected constitute a valuable contribution to the Greek Language Institute’s ongoing efforts to improve future seminars.
