BOOK CLUB (INELESCHI)
“An Invitation and a Challenge to Read”
The BOOK CLUB (INELESCHI) was created with the aim of offering curated book suggestions, with a primary focus on children’s and young adult literature, though titles for adults are not excluded.
CHILDREN’S BOOKS
Our suggestions will be aimed at:
- Children of Greek descent who live in Greece or abroad, for whom Greek functions as a second or foreign language.
- Children who are native Greek speakers, whose parents are looking for quality and aesthetically pleasing books.
Our goal is to bring children closer to Greek culture and modern as well as older Greek literature, through noteworthy books, primarily by Greek authors and illustrators.
Each book presentation will be accompanied by a documented and objective review, which will examine:
- Content: The theme, the meanings, and the values promoted.
- Language and Style: Correct syntax, clarity of expression, the use of simple and functional words, especially for children learning Greek as a second/foreign language.
- Illustration: Aesthetics, attractiveness, and coherence with the text.
- Suitability: Age-appropriateness and thematic relevance.
- Publication Quality: Editing, printing, and the durability of the physical copy.
- Practicality: The book’s size, weight, and the type/size of the font (readability).
Above all, the BOOK CLUB will evaluate the substantive value of each book and the educational or cultural objective of its writing.
We aspire for the BOOK CLUB to become a reliable guide for educators, parents, and children, strengthening the Greek language and literature around the world.
